FIRST APPOINTMENT

We know discussing your health issues can be very overwhelming. Please feel free to bring a family member or friend along to your appointment for support or to be part of the discussions.

At anytime, please feel free to ask questions to ensure you fully understand your diagnosis and treatment options. Knowing what to expect can help you prepare for treatment and ease any anxiety you may be feeling.

Our professional and caring team are here to help you through the process to make your experience is as smooth as possible.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring the following to your first appointment:

  • Current referral letter from your GP or Specialist (if not already emailed or faxed)

  • Completed Health Questionnaire – Download here (PDF 676kB).

  • A list of your current medications including names, doses and frequency (if unsure please bring in original packaging and scripts)

  • Medicare or Pensioner’s Card & Private Health Insurance

  • All recent investigations such as X-rays, CTs, ultrasound, MRIs or blood tests obtained during the investigation of your medical condition

Your Health Questionnaire and results can be emailed to admin@wiresradiology.com.au 

This up-to-date information will help assist your medical team in providing the best possible care given your specific diagnosis and recommended treatment options.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT

Whilst every patient is treated according to their individual circumstances, a typical appointment with your doctor may involve:

Welcome and introduction – Your doctor will welcome you and make you feel comfortable and outline what will happen during your appointment.

Review of medical history, imaging and reports – Your doctor will review your medical history, most recent results and scans and may recommend additional testing if required.

Physical exam – Your doctor may undertake a physical exam.

Discuss treatment options – Your doctor will go over information about your disease and treatment options as well as any possible side effects and treatment consent.

Ask questions – We encourage you to ask questions about your diagnosis, treatment options and side effects.

Schedule the operation (if required) – If an operation is required your doctor will discuss with you and schedule an operation date and relevant paperwork required to proceed with your procedure.

REVIEW APPOINTMENTS

If necessary, your doctor will schedule with you a review appointment. This will give you and your doctor the opportunity to discuss your current condition and treatment approach as well as any additional results, side effects or symptoms you may be experiencing due to your treatment.

FEE INFORMATION

PRIVATE HEALTH FUND & ADDITIONAL COSTS

PRIVATE HEALTH FUND – Please discuss the following with your private health insurer:

  • Eligibility for the proposed treatment

  • Potential excess fees for your admission to hospital.

ADDITIONAL COSTS – Please consider additional costs may apply for:

  • If an anaesthetist is required, they may charge an out of pocket fee  (The anaesthetic team will discuss this with you)

  • You may be charged for radiology, pathology or pharmacy costs during your hospital stay.
